Privacy Policy

Ovis is a streaming service for classic films, TV series, original music videos, and independent premieres, on the web at ovis.adastra.love, on iPhone and iPad, and on Roku. This policy explains what we collect, why, who we share it with, and how to delete it.

The short version

• You can watch free titles without an account. We don't show ads, we don't track you across other apps or websites, and we don't sell your personal information.
• If you create an account, we keep what's needed to run it: your username, email, date of birth, the titles you save, and the titles you rent or buy.
• Payments are handled by Stripe. We never see or store your full card number.
• You can delete your Ovis account at any time in the app or on the website. Your Scrolls account stays unless you choose to delete it too.

Your Ovis account is shared with Scrolls

Ovis uses the same login as Scrolls, a companion app from the same team. One username and password signs you in to both. Sign-up, sign-in, password storage, and password resets are handled by that shared login system. Deleting your Ovis account removes your Ovis data only and leaves Scrolls as it is. You can choose to delete the shared Scrolls login at the same time.

What we collect

When you create an account

• Username and email address, to identify your account, sign you in, and send account emails such as password resets and purchase receipts.
• Password, which is stored only in hashed form by the shared account system. Ovis servers never store it.
• Date of birth, to confirm you're old enough to use the service.

When you use Ovis

• My List: the titles you save, so your list follows you between devices.
• Purchases and rentals: which titles you rented or bought, the price, the date, and when a rental starts and ends, so your titles unlock on every device you sign in to.
• Technical data: like almost every website and app, our servers and hosting providers receive your IP address, device and browser type, and request times when you load pages, artwork, or video. We use this to deliver video, keep the service secure, and fix problems. We don't use it to build advertising profiles.

When you buy or rent

Checkout happens on Stripe's secure payment page. Stripe collects your payment details and billing email under Stripe's Privacy Policy. Stripe tells us the payment succeeded, the amount, and the email on the receipt. We don't receive or store your card number.

When you submit a film

If you send us a film at ovis.adastra.love/submit, we collect your name, email, and any company, website, film details, screener link, and screener password you provide, so our programmers can review your film and contact you.

On the website

If you sign in on the website, your browser stores your session in local storage so you stay signed in. We don't use advertising cookies or third-party analytics.

What we don't do

• We don't sell or rent your personal information.
• We don't show ads or share your data with advertisers or data brokers.
• We don't track you across other companies' apps or websites.

Who processes data for us

We use a small number of service providers, only to run Ovis:

• Cloudflare: our API, video and artwork storage and delivery, and saved lists and purchase records.
• Supabase: the catalog, film submissions, and the shared Ovis/Scrolls account system.
• Stripe: payment processing for rentals and purchases.
• Vercel: hosting for the ovis.adastra.love website.
• Internet Archive: classic public-domain films and series stream from archive.org, which receives the technical data your device sends when it plays them.

We may also disclose information if the law requires it, to protect the rights and safety of our users or others, or as part of a merger or sale of the service, in which case this policy continues to apply.

How long we keep data

• Account, My List, and unlocked titles: until you delete your account.
• Records of completed payments: kept as long as tax and accounting laws require, even after your account is deleted. They're no longer linked to a usable account.
• Film submissions: for as long as needed to review them and keep a record of our decision. Email us to have a submission removed.
• Server logs: kept for a short period for security and troubleshooting.

Deleting your account and your choices

• In the app: Account → Delete Ovis account.
• On the website: sign in at ovis.adastra.love/account → Delete Ovis account.
• By email: write to ovis@adastra.love from your account email.

Deleting your Ovis account permanently removes your My List and access to any titles you rented or bought, and signs you out. Your Scrolls account isn't affected. If you also choose "delete my Scrolls login," the shared login and your Scrolls account are deleted too. Deletion can't be undone. If you sign in to Ovis again later with a Scrolls login you kept, you start with a new, empty Ovis account. You can also ask us for a copy of your data, or to correct it, by emailing us. Depending on where you live, you may have additional rights under local law; we'll honor them.

Children

Ovis accounts are for people 13 and older. We don't knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has created an account, email us and we'll delete it.

Security

We use encryption in transit (HTTPS), hashed passwords, signed and time-limited links for paid video, and access controls on our databases. No system is perfectly secure, but we work to protect your information.

Changes

If we change this policy, we'll update the date at the top of this page. If a change is significant, we'll let account holders know in the app or by email.
